1. What this covers

This policy explains how Accent (“Accent,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and keeps personal information when you use the Accent website and its writing tools (the “Service”). It applies to your account, the text you submit, and the drafts the Service saves for you.

Your writing is private. We do not sell personal information, we do not use your writing to train or improve models, and we do not use it to advertise to you. Your text is processed only to carry out what you asked for and to save the result to your account.

2. Information we collect

Account information. Your email address and password, or the basic profile details a sign-in provider such as Google shares with us, and a display name if you set one.

Content. The text and prompts you submit to the Service and the drafts it produces for you, along with basic details about each request, such as its length and whether it completed, that let us operate the Service and bill you correctly.

Billing information. Your plan, your word balance, and a record of usage. Payment card details are collected by our payment processor and are not stored by us.

Technical information. Information your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, browser type, the pages requested, and timestamps. We do not use advertising or analytics trackers on the Service.

Communications. Anything you send us when you contact support.

3. How we use it

To provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including saving your drafts and completing requests that continue after you leave the page.
To process payments, manage subscriptions, and keep the records that billing requires.
To keep the Service working: diagnose problems and understand how it performs.
To communicate with you about your account and the Service.
To protect the Service and its users, and to comply with the law.

Your writing is never used to train or improve models, shared with other users, or read by us except when you ask us to look into a problem with a specific draft.

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf and under our instructions, such as hosting and database providers, the AI model providers that generate or evaluate text for your request, our payment processor, and sign-in providers. Each receives only what is needed for its role and may not use your writing for its own purposes.

We may also share information if required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety, or property of Accent or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply.

5. Drafts you choose to share

Drafts are private to your account unless you create a sharing link. Anyone with a sharing link can view and copy that draft without signing in. You can disable a link at any time, which stops it working, though it cannot recall copies others have already made.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your account information and drafts for as long as your account is active. Drafts you delete are removed from your account. We keep billing records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, and technical logs for a limited period.

If you close your account, we delete the personal information associated with it, except where we need to keep something to meet a legal obligation, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

7. Cookies and local storage

We use only the cookies needed to run the Service, such as the session that keeps you signed in. Your browser may also store small amounts of information locally, such as your theme preference and text you typed before signing up so it is available once you are in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Your rights and choices

You can view, edit, download, and delete your drafts, update your profile, and manage your subscription from within the Service.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, to restrict or object to certain processing, or to receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise these rights or to close your account, contact us. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

9. International transfers

We and our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

10. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit and access controls that limit drafts to their owner. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by law.

11. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new effective date and, for material changes, provide notice through the Service or by email. Your use of the Service is also governed by the Terms of Service.
