Terms of Service

1. Using Accent

These Terms govern your use of the Accent website and its writing, rewriting, and sharing tools (the “Service”), operated by Accent (“Accent,” “we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old and meet any higher minimum age required where you live. If you are below the age at which you can enter a binding contract, a parent or legal guardian must agree to these Terms and supervise your use. If you use Accent for an organization, you must have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. Your account

Provide accurate account and billing information, protect your sign-in credentials, and tell us if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity you authorize through your account. You must not sell access, share an account to evade plan limits, or create accounts to abuse free allowances.

3. Your content and generated text

You retain your rights in prompts, drafts, and other material you submit (“Input”). You are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed to submit that material and allow us to process it.

As between you and Accent, you may use the text generated for you (“Output”), and Accent assigns to you any rights it may have in that Output, to the extent permitted by law. This does not guarantee that Output qualifies for copyright protection, is unique, or is free of third-party rights. Other users may receive similar text.

You authorize Accent and its service providers to host, reproduce, process, transmit, and display your Input and Output as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the Service, including saving your drafts and completing background jobs. Our handling of personal information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

4. Review your results

AI-generated text can contain inaccurate facts, fabricated citations, unintended changes in meaning, or material that resembles someone else’s work. Review and verify Output before using or publishing it. Accent is a writing tool and does not provide professional legal, medical, financial, or other regulated advice.

AI detector results are estimates, can change between services and over time, and do not establish authorship. No result, score, or product description guarantees that text will pass every detector, be accepted by an institution, or comply with another party’s rules. You are responsible for any required disclosure of AI assistance and for following applicable academic, workplace, publisher, and platform policies.

5. Acceptable use

Use Accent lawfully and respect other people’s rights. You must not:

• Submit or publish material that infringes intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights, or that you are not authorized to share with our providers.
• Use the Service for fraud, illegal impersonation, threats, harassment, exploitation, or other unlawful activity.
• Bypass authentication, payment requirements, usage limits, or security controls; interfere with the Service; or access another person’s drafts without permission.
• Use automated access that disrupts the Service or resell the Service without our permission.

Do not submit passwords, payment card details, or highly sensitive information that the Service is not designed to handle.

6. Plans, renewals, and words

Prices, billing intervals, word allowances, and per-run limits are shown on the pricing and checkout screens. Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the interval you select until canceled. By purchasing, you authorize Stripe, our payment processor, to charge the displayed amount and applicable taxes using your payment method.

You can manage or cancel a subscription through the billing portal linked from your account. Cancel before the next renewal to avoid the next charge. Unless checkout states otherwise, cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid billing period. Closing a browser tab or deleting a draft does not cancel a subscription.

Humanize uses the number of words submitted; Write uses the requested output length; inline rewrites use the selected text subject to the displayed limits. Plan allowances refill on the schedule shown for your account. Purchased extra words do not expire and are used after the plan allowance. Word balances are service credits, not money, and cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash.

When a run qualifies for the word-return policy shown in the Service, we return its word charge to your balance. This is a word credit, not a cash refund or a guarantee of a particular result. For payment mistakes or cash-refund requests, contact us. Any refund offer made at purchase and your mandatory consumer rights continue to apply, including any cancellation or withdrawal rights required by law.

We will give notice of material price or subscription changes before they apply to a future renewal so you can cancel if you do not accept them.

7. Saving and sharing

Drafts are associated with your account. If you enable a sharing link, anyone who has that link can read and copy the shared draft without signing in. You decide whether to share it. Turning off a link cannot recall copies or screenshots that others have already made.

Background jobs may continue after you leave the page. Keep your own copies of important work. Storage, retention, and deletion are described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Service availability and ownership

Accent owns the Service’s software, interface, branding, and other materials apart from your content and third-party materials. These Terms give you permission to use the Service, not ownership of it.

Features may change, and the Service may be interrupted by maintenance, network issues, or provider outages. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every generation will succeed. If we discontinue a paid feature or the Service, we will address any remaining paid entitlement as required by law and the applicable purchase terms.

9. Suspension and account closure

You may stop using Accent at any time and contact us to request account closure. Manage any active subscription through the billing portal as well. We may restrict or suspend access for a material breach of these Terms, nonpayment, fraud, or a security or legal risk. Where reasonably possible, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to resolve it.

Terms concerning payment obligations already incurred, content rights, and limits of liability continue to apply after access ends. Account closure does not override recordkeeping obligations or your rights under applicable law.

10. Disclaimers and responsibility

To the extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are responsible for deciding whether Output is suitable for your use.

To the extent permitted by law, Accent is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or losses arising from reliance on unverified Output. Accent’s total liability relating to the Service is limited to the greater of US$100 or the amount you paid Accent in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These limits do not exclude or restrict liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or death or personal injury. Nothing in these Terms takes away mandatory consumer protections or remedies available under the law where you live.

11. Changes and questions

We may update these Terms. We will update the effective date and give reasonable notice of material changes through the Service or your account email before they take effect, except where a change must take effect sooner for legal or security reasons. If you do not accept an update, stop using the Service and cancel any renewal. Changes do not retroactively remove accrued rights.

If part of these Terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply. Please contact us about a concern or dispute so we can try to resolve it. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive your right to bring a claim in a court that has jurisdiction.
